SEPTEMBER 2009

These plates are from an ongoing collection of dinner plates titled The Meal’s On Us. They display graphite drawings depicting abused animals on the surface, to confront viewers about animal cruelty and consumption.

Single File, Between the Bars, and Good to Go present the animals as worthless objects, peeling, unraveling, and falling apart to reveal their flesh beneath, as if that is all they’re good for.

No Name #1 is an experimental plate that incorporates my deer drawing with the antique plate’s original motif. The floral design interacts with the deer, leaving it helplessly bound and suspended in mid air.
