Happy Holidays Ya’ll!!!

Yes! Merry Christmas to you all!
I hope everyone had fabulous day with friends and family. I certainly did, BBQ lunch with one side, and a quiet dinner and loads of gift unwrapping with my boyfriend’s family.

I have quite a reputation for loving all things London/British. We have Union Jack cushions in the lounge, vintage style Union Jack suitcases, Union Jack coasters, a Keep Calm & Carry On Canvas – & that’s just in the lounge! You get the idea. Anyway, being openly British loving landed me some neat wee gifts!

Some London Post Salt & Pepper Shakers, some London Mints (says in the front places to visit!) A British tin, one side says “Proud to Be British” and it’s filled with Favourites candy bars. And a Union Jack storage chest! So there you have it.

I also got lots of chocolate and candy, a lovely bird necklace, and a super comfortable memory foam pillow! As well as the usual things – shower gels etc. Oh and I got Red Vines & Peanut Butter M&M’s!! I love American Candy also :D And a cute gingerbread man cookie jar filled with gingerbread cookies. Om Nom Nom!

Attempting to get back into it…

So my uncle passed away a couple months ago and he was a bit of a hobby photographer. I inherited all his old cameras, and also some really old film projectors!

I’ve decided to dust off one of the cameras and take it for a spin today.

This is the chosen one :)

I’ll take a walk around my city of ruins and see what I can spot. There are some pretty cool projects going on around the city so I will most likely find something. I’ll post some pics if they turn out.

Lovely British Lady Singers

Now, when I was younger I never listened to female singers. I don’t think there were any decent ones around, or maybe I just didn’t like them, who knows. But now my favourite female singer is Miss Laura Marling, a young 21 year British lass. And what a beaut. She started when she was about 17? She was in the band Noah and The Whale, and later released a solo album titled Alas I Cannot Swim. Her second album is called I Speak Because I Can, which to me is a lot more mature, although Alas I Cannot Swim has a special place in my heart because it’s the first I had ever heard of her.
Her latest album was released on the 13th of September this year and is called A Creature I Don’t Know. I was so excited for the release of this one that I pre-ordered the special edition box set which has the vinyl record, CD, digital album, poetry book and one of those guitar slider thingys! Awesome sauce.
The album was so worth the wait, it’s amazing. She gets better and better with each album, I wish I was as talented and creative as her.
Here is a song called I Am A Master Hunter, it’s a new one so it’s not on any albums but it’s one of my favourites. Just brilliant.

Another new song which is just magnificent is called Pray For Me.

Moving on, Miss Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine. What a set of lungs this lady has. Her first album is titled Lungs actually, how fitting.
It’s funny cause when ever I listen to Florence I think of Italy, not because of her name but because when I first started listening to her I was planning a trip to Europe and looking up lots of pictures and info about Italy, cause it’s the place I am most excited to visit. Cool fact, I’m going to be in Florence on my birthday next year, woop!
Anyway, back to Florence, the lady. Her new, second album is called Ceremonials. My favourite tracks are Only If For A Night, Shake It Out and What The Water Gave Me.

So yes, these are my favourite Lovely British Lady Singers :)

PS: I want Florence’s hair. And I think Laura Marling is the most adorable thing ever.

In My Room

Hello all. I made a new header for my site and changed the border colour. I want to change the background too, might do that later.

So I was tidying my room today and looking at all my favourite things. I decided to take some pictures and post them, out of boredom etc. I used my compact Lumix camera with the Pinhole setting, gives quite a cool effect but they’re a bit dark really.

I started collecting suitcases when I was about 16 years old. I have about 5 old vintage ones, and two Union Jack ones that are just storage containers really. I don’t know why I bought so many suitcases, or why I continue to have a fascination with them. Maybe it’s some sort of subconscious need to escape or something.
But anyway, I decided to stack some of my favourite suitcases in the corner and store my Frankie Magazine and Recipe books in the top one! :D

The framed drawing on the wall was given to me by Sarah McNeil, an old friend and amazingly talented artist. The poster in the wall behind the suitcases is also done by her, it was a pull out from one of the Frankie Issues. I also have 3 of Sarah’s postcard prints on the wall too :) I love her work.

My quote on the blackboard sticker at the moment:

And there’s only 38 weeks til I get to go to London and see my bestie! And travel round Europe for 22 days :D I’ll post more about that another time.

Hey, maybe I can finally use my suitcases?!

Howdy peeps! I am still alive, despite Earthquakes ravaging my home town!

The Hatch Exhibition in Sol Square is now closed. Many thanks to those who came by. And a HUGE thanks to those who purchased some of my work! I hope you enjoy my photographs on your wall :)

So my series of plates titled Serving Suggestion is showing in the exhibition “Hatch”. It opens this Thursday (the 17th of December) and is located down His Lordships Lane, off Lichfield St in Christchurch. This location is also known as SOL Square, a small area of popular shops and bars. Hatch is showing in the old Illicit Clothing shop, and it open until Christmas Eve.

Other artists include:
Lucy Atkinson, Nick Heaphy, Doug Marquet, Amelia Rayner, Hayley Roberts, William Shaw, Charlotte Suckling, Mallory Tippet and Kelly Williams.

Drinks are provided by Cartel on the open night.

My brother’s band, Suede Arcade, have made it to the National Finals of The Battle of the Bands! It’s in Auckland so many of us are not going to be able to be their to support them, but they need votes to win (and they deserve to win!).
So all we need to do is text Suede Arcade to 787! you can vote up to 10 times a day until the 19th, and it’s free for Vodafone users.

You can watch the finals on Juice TV on the 19th from 8pm.

Pearl Jam Rewards Me

So Pearl Jam played in my hometown of Christchurch last night, and they rocked big time! Best concert of my life, and it’s not just cause they’ve been my favourite band since I was 15, they were genuinely amazing. They had great energy, and they really enjoyed performing and entertaining the crowd. The crowd were awesome, I was second row on the left up with fellow Ten Clubbers who were lovely. Some non club members pushed in when PJ came on, a dude stole my spot and towards the end some crazy b*tch pushed her way up. I still stayed in the 2nd row, just a little squishy.

The Set list was epic, and as follows:

I’m usually quite shy and an introvert but towards the middle I couldn’t hold my excitement, I was singing along at the top of my lungs and wasn’t bothered about getting soaked by the rain.
